Zac Efron heads down under

With his bevy of beautiful groupies and a massively successful acting career, Zac Efron is looking at what’s next in his life. And the High School Musical stud’s popularity in Australia has garnered him an invite to host an awards show down under.

Nickelodeon Australia has announced that Efron will be assuming the hosting duties of their Kids Choice Awards. The show will take place on October 10th, and co-hosting will be punk pop duo the Veronicas.

The Aussie culture is one that Efron will be getting to know even better in the weeks to come. On Sept 5th, he’ll be doing promotion for “Hairspray” and Sept 22nd will find him premiering High School Musical 2 on the Disney Channel Australia.

According to Katrina Southon, the general manager of Nickelodeon Australia, Zac was a natural choice for the gig. She told press, “He is extremely popular with Aussie kids, and his involvement demonstrates the high caliber of local and international talent clamoring to be a part of our show.”

Owen Wilson movie in doubt after suicide reports

The status of upcoming movie projects starring Owen Wilson was unclear on Tuesday after the Oscar-nominated comedian’s reported suicide attempt, entertainment industry press said.

Film trade journals The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety said Wilson had been due to start filming the comedy “Tropic Thunder” in the coming weeks while work on another film “Marley and Me” had been pencilled in for January.

Variety reported that the films were “in flux” following Wilson’s hospitalization for undisclosed medical reasons in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Sources close to the actor have been quoted in several media reports as saying the 38-year-old funnyman, one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood, had attempted to commit suicide.

A one-line statement from Dreamworks, which is releasing “Tropic Thunder” next summer, said work on the film was ongoing. “Filming on ‘Tropic Thunder’ continues,” the company said.

A spokesman for 20th Century Fox meanwhile brushed off questions about “Marley and Me,” in which Wilson is to star in alongside Jennifer Aniston.

Darren Hayes denies racism

Australian singer Darren Hayes has denied accusations that he racially abused a waiter in a Thai restaurant in London.

He was arrested by police and has been bailed. The alleged incident happened in Busaba Eathai restaurant on July 22nd.

The Metropolitan Police issued this statement.

“We can confirm that a 35-year-old man was arrested by Westminster police on suspicion of racially abusing a member of staff.

“He was arrested after voluntarily attending a Central London police station by appointment. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries, until the 21st of September.”

Mr Hayes’ solicitor posted a statement on the singer’s website today:

“Darren is unable to comment to any extent as the incident is presently under investigation by the police, with whom he has cooperated fully,” the statement said.

“However, he is deeply upset at the allegation, which he strenuously denies, and anyone who knows Darren will recognise that the particular nature of the allegation is totally abhorrent to him and contrary to everything for which he has stood.”

The former frontman of Savage Garden played at London’s Pride event in Trafalgar Square in June.

Brisbane-born Hayes ended speculation over his sexuality after he came out in 2006 and revealed he was in a civil partnership.

The solo singer had often remained silent on his private life.

Earlier this month he criticised the attitude of Australian Prime Minister John Howard’s towards gay marriage after his British ‘husband’ was forced to fly to Australia on a tourist visa.

Gordon Brown supports Gay Soccer

The Prime Minister was in the crowd at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night to watch England lose to Germany, and his love of football is well-known.

Now is being urged to show his support for the World Cup, which is being hosted in England next year.

Not the over-rated FIFA event, of course, but the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA) World Championship, which kicks off in exactly one year’s time today.

London team Leftfooters FC won its bid to host the championship earlier this year after IGLFA officials visited facilities at Regents Park.

Ten 11-a-side pitches and six 7-a-side pitches have been reserved for the event, which is supported by the Football Association, Westminster City Council, gay equality organisation Stonewall, the Mayor of London and Visit London.

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ming Campbell, former sports minister Richard Caborn and Alan Keen MP also backed London’s successful bid.

Now Westminster City Council want the Prime Minister to show his support for the gay World Cup.

“We hope that the new Prime Minister Gordon Brown will join the large number of people, including Tony Blair when he was Prime Minister, who have already shown their support for this event,” Councillor Daniel Astaire, cabinet member for customer and community services, told PinkNews.co.uk

Nothing Dorky about Dror Okavi: Mr Israel winner now successful model

Dror Okavi was born December 28th, 1978 in Bet Halevi, Israel. Like many others, Dror’s biggest inspiration growing up was Arnold Schwarzenegger. At the age of 15, as a young athlete, he already knew that he wanted to be as strong and famous as his role model, Arnold. At age of 16 Dror began his training in the gym for the first time. There he met his trainer/nutritionist Yair Lav. Yair saw great potential in Dror and showed him the correct way of working out. Dror learned quickly and working out became his passion.

At the age of 18, Dror joined in the Israeli Army and served his country for three years. While in the army, he was in charge of physical training. He implemented a strenuous workout that was incorporated with their military training.

After leaving the army he went right back to the gym, and trained intensely for the Mr. Israel competition. With the help of Yair Lav and Kobi Ezra he was more determine then ever to win the championship.

Dror won his first Mr. Israel title when he was just 21 years old. At 22 years old he won Mr. Israel for the second time and won overall champion with only 3.3 % body fat! Dror became a personal trainer and did some modeling for the next few years before he decided to come to the U.S. in 2004.

He is currently a personal trainer and fitness model. He has worked with some great photographers, like Alex Ardenti, Charles Worthington, Michael Neveux and Keith Munyan. He also worked with Rich Gaspari at this year’s Arnold Classic, where he met Arnold himself!

Dror currently lives in Los Angeles where he is pursuing his career as a model and actor.

Recent London Flooding

Well, we have moved from a flooded Australia, to a flooded Britain. The pictures below are NOT real, but taken from a soon to be released movie, Flood. An image of the future perhaps? The O2 Dome and the Houses Of Parliament could well look like this, if we dont start taking heed of global warming.

Based on a novel by Richard Doyle, Flood looks at what happens after a raging storm coincides with heavy seas, unleashing a giant tidal wave into the city.

The Thames Barrier is overwhelmed as torrents of water pour into the capital, threatening millions of lives and submerging – as the picture shows – beloved landmarks like the Houses of Parliament, Millennium Dome, and Big Ben.

I am going up to Wales next week (after Brighton Pride) to collect a bicycle, which will be my new zero carbon emission method of transport through the city.
