Becks in Hawaii

becks2becks2 becks6David Beckham has declared his undying love for wife Victoria with a new tattoo.

The soccer star had the words ‘Forever by your side’ etched on his left forearm in italic lettering as a permanent and romantic pledge to his wife of eight years, and the mother of his three children.

David, 32, unveiled his new body art at a training session with his soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy in Hawaii this week.

A source said: “David wanted to do something special for the woman he loves and Victoria could not be happier with his unique declaration of love.”

This is the latest tattoo inspired by Victoria that David has added to his vast collection.

Last month, he paid £2,500 for a naked image of Victoria, 33, based on his favourite photo of the Spice Girls star.

The seven-inch artwork on his left arm features the singer lying on her back surrounded by stars and baring her breasts with her knees raised up seductively.

David and Victoria also have matching tattoos of the Roman numerals VIII.V.MMVI, which represent the date they renewed their wedding vows on March 8, 2006.

David’s collection also includes the names of the couple’s three children, Brooklyn, eight, Romeo, five and Cruz, three.

Is Pink Gay ?

This is sad - they were such a cool couple. Pink and her motocross biker husband Carey Hart have officially split. Her publicist announced the end of the couple’s long-term relationship in a really nice statement:
blog_gay_rumour_carey_hartblog_gay_rumour_carey_hart
“This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another,” the statement read. “While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger.”

Pink’s liaisons with female friends have had eyebrows raised for ages - this divorce will do nothing to squash those gay rumours!

Doctor Who’s Assistant Laughs Off Snub Row

freema agyeman david tennant tardis 1b

Feb 17 2008 By Steve Hendry

Freema Agyeman was in last nights Torchwood as Martha Jones. However Agyeman is being replaced in Doctor Who by Catherine Tate. Agyeman insists she is not bovvered about being replaced in the Tardis by Catherine Tate. Its all getting confusing for us Aussies who have missed half of Doctor Who (but are obsessed with John Barrowman in Torchwood)

The stunning 28-year-old borrowed her successor’s comic catchphrase as she joked about losing her role as the Timelord’s assistant.

Freema was plucked from obscurity to play Martha Jones alongside Scots star David Tennant but has been written out after just one series.

She will now appear in the spin-off show Torchwood - and insists the move is not just to make room for funny girl Tate.

Freema said: “I’ve got all the time in the world for Catherine and wasn’t ‘bovvered’

“I was always aware Martha was going into Torchwood. It was a character decision and one I was in total agreement with.

“I knew what was happening in January last year.

“I was surprised when it was portrayed as scandalous and negative but we made a group decision that it wasn’t worth answering, so we ignored them.

“At the end of the last series, Martha and the Doctor saved the world and she told him she loved him - but he didn’t love her. There’s no way she could just step back on to the Tardis and pretend that hadn’t happened.

“I was more than happy I was going into Torchwood. I feel part of the Doctor Who family and get to broaden and expand the character. It was really exciting.”

Freema was working in DVD rental store Blockbuster when she won the coveted role of Martha.

She had appeared in minor roles on shows such as The Bill, Silent Witness and the revamped Crossroads but the sci-fi series was her big break.

It was a high-pressure task as she was filling the shoes of fans’ favourite Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler.

Freema said: “I never for a second thought I was going to be working on Doctor Who and make history by being the first black assistant.

“Before the role came up I was looking at a Plan B.

“I was thinking, ‘If this doesn’t go where I want it to, where am I going to be in 20 or 30 years?’

“Then it all became so big, so quickly.

I’m glad it happened when it did.

“If it happened at an earlier point in my life, I think it would have been over-whelming. Things like the stories I was being axed would have been harder to deal with. But I’ve worked through it and managed to handle it.”

In Torchwood, Martha is called in by Captain Jack Harness - played by Scots born star John Barrowman - to help investigate mysterious deaths at a sinister medical centre.

Freema said: “I had an absolute ball on Torchwood.

“There’s so many of us and you get more time to socialise, which equals a very supportive and tight bunch.

“They welcomed me into the fold immediately.”

Freema is also close to her co-star Tennant, who helped her get the role by making her relax at her screen test.

It is rumoured Tennant will take a break from the Tardis to pursue other roles at the end of the current series.

Freema refuses to reveal what the Doctor’s fate will be but did admit she, Tate, Piper and Elisabeth Sladen - the Doctor’s assistant Sarah Jane Smith in 1973 - will feature in the finale of the forthcoming series.

She said: “I quickly learned that ignorance is bliss on Doctor Who.

“I’ve become quite good at keeping secrets. I never ask more than I need to know so I have plausible deniability. I do know we are all going to be together but I don’t know how.

“I have the episode script but I haven’t read it yet so I don’t know how it all falls into place, thank God.

“I’m looking forward to being part of the climax because it is going to be huge.

“But I hope Martha goes on. I feel like I haven’t completely exhausted her yet and life after Doctor Who is quite a scary prospect so I’m not looking beyond it right now. I’m happy where I am.”

Whatever happens, Freema can rely on the support of her family.

Landing the role of Martha is the source of much pride to them and she admits they are her biggest fans.

Freema grew up in a tough housing estate in Hackney, London, with her younger brother Domenic and older sister Leila.

Her Iranian mum, Azar, is divorced from her Ghanian dad Osei but her family remain close-knit and she is grateful for their support over the years.

She said: “My mum and dad are absolutely beside themselves.

“If ever for a split second I get complacent and think it’s just another job, they start waving Doctor Who dolls in my face.

“It’s their level of excitement which keeps it in perspective for me.”

Torchwood is on BBC2 at 9pm on Wednesday. Doctor Who returns to BBC1 in the spring.

I loved him but he didn’t love me.. I couldn’t just go back in the Tardis Freema Agyeman

I’m Gay now get over it

HOMOPHOBIC bullying in schools is being targeted in a poster campaign across Teesside.

get over it

Huge red and white billboards saying: “Some people are gay. Get over it!” are being displayed throughout Middlesbrough in a two-week campaign to raise awareness.

Launched by gay rights organisation Stonewall, in London, by Torchwood star John Barrowman, the national campaign aims to crack down on bullying.

A total of 600 posters are being rolled out across the country.

It is part of Stonewall’s Education For All campaign. The slogan was designed after consulting 150 schools.

Ben Summerskill, Stonewall chief executive, said: “Homophobia is almost endemic in our schools and blights the lives of people throughout society.

“It makes sense that this zero-tolerance message should be extended to the wider public.”

But not everyone agrees.

Actor and sexual health worker James Wood is a gay Teesside man who came out when he was 17.

He remembers being bullied on a number of occasions and thinks the posters may have the opposite effect.

He said: “I don’t think the posters are a good idea.

“It’s too confrontational and won’t do gay people any favours.

“There are other ways to reach young people by going into schools and youth groups.

“I can remember being bullied three times in particular at school and at college.

“The type of people who are not gay friendly are not suddenly going to look at the posters and think ‘I won’t go out gay bashing, I’ll sit in and listen to Kylie.’

“I think if there are going to be posters for gay people then why not have them for everyone - women, old people, ethnic minorities and stop discrimination for them too?

“The posters will not change the views of those they are aimed at - it could have the opposite effect.”

More than 5,000 posters, stickers and postcards have been distributed to schools.

Spanish gay rights activists protest against conservative opposition’s stance

Reichen LehmkuhlMADRID, Spain: Scores of gay demonstrators gathered outside the conservative opposition party’s headquarters on Saturday to oppose its plans to withdraw their newly won rights.

Gay groups are concerned that, if voted into power in the March 9 general election, the Popular Party will reverse legislation allowing them the right to marry and to adopt children.

“We’re gathering to ask the PP to change its homophobic attitude,” said Antonio Poveda, president of Spain’s Federation of Gays and Lesbians.

“We’ve fought hard to achieve equal rights and are appalled by this party’s stated wish to turn the clock back to Spain’s repressive past,” Poveda said.

The Socialist government of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero legalized gay marriage in July 2005 and passed legislation allowing gay couples to adopt.

The PP immediately appealed against the laws at the Constitutional Court and its leaders have pledged that if elected they will overturn adoption rights and downgrade gay marriage to a civil union.

Protesters carried banners reading “Rights are fought for. We are for a secular State,” “No to religious dictatorship” and “Democracy is a daily battle.”

The PP is backed by Spain’s staunchly conservative Catholic Church.

Besides Spain, the Netherlands, Canada and Belgium have legalized same-sex marriage, while Britain and some other European countries have laws that give same-sex couples rights to form legally binding partnerships.

In the United States, Massachusetts is the only state that allows gay couples to marry. Oregon this month became the ninth U.S. state to approve spousal rights for some gay couples.

Off to Mardi Gras in One Week

David and I are off to Sydney next week, for a month. David booked our tickets to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade and party ($150 big bucks) and to Toy Box. All we need now is, a tan and a body. As its the 30th anniversary, it should be even more spectacular than ever.

We dont know where we will see the parade from yet, but by the photos from the Gay and Lesbian Lifesavers entry Lifesavers With Pride its going to be great.

Australian ACT’s Civil Partnerships Bill in jeopardy

th kevinrudd

In what appears to be a turn around on the issue of civil unions in the ACT, the Rudd government has made it clear they will not accept the Bill in its current form.

Last week The Australian reported that Attorney-General Robert McClelland said the government “would not allow civil unions”, and reiterated Labor’s preference of a state based relationships register.

Kevin Rudd has always maintained his view that he would not support civil unions, but before last year’s election the ACT’s Attorney-General Simon Corbell was assured that the Rudd government would allow the territory to legislate as it saw fit. There was also direct comment from the Prime Minister on December 6 on the matter:

“The question of legislation of the type you speak, it’s always been our view as the Labor Party that that lies properly within the prerogative of the states, and that remains our position,” he told the ABC.

Corbell told The Australian that the ACT would try to abolish powers in the ACT Self-Government Act that allow the Commonwealth to override territory law, calling them “archaic and undemocratic”.

The Civil Partnerships Bill will allow same-sex couples to not only register their relationship but to include an official ceremony, and the federal government is concerned the ceremonial aspect mimics marriage.

A spokeswoman for Corbell, told SX: “Basically we have introduced the Bill in the Legislative Assembly and the ACT and federal governments are still in negotiations over the language of the Bill.”

At the same time Rudd assured the ACT he would not interfere, he also made a commitment to the Australian Christian Lobby that he did not support civil unions.

Tasmanian Gay Activist Rodney Croome said he is not surprised by the federal government’s response given their specific remarks about their opposition to civil unions.

“I would say there is a 50-plus per cent chance of the government overriding the ACT’s Bill if it is introduced as it is,” he said.

Jake Gyllenhaal does the cover of Vanity Fair

Jake Gyllenhaal graces the cover of the Italian version of Vanity Fair, holding his trusty bicycle, which we haven’t seen him ride in far too long. Jake looks as studly as ever, but I’m a little disappointed that he is wearing a shirt in all of the shots. Perhaps he wasn’t in the mood during the photo shoot, since he has been having a very rough time dealing with the death of his “amico vero” Heath Ledger.
jake gyllenhaal
The shoot does look like it would have been difficult. It seems most of the photos show Jake engaging in traditional male bonding activities all by himself. Jake in a boat on a pond. Jake fishing. As much as I enjoy looking at him, I imagine that the scenes only served to remind Jake that he recently lost his best bud.

Matthew McConaughey and Lance Armstong need to help brush him off, squeeze him back into those tight shorts, and get him back up on that bicycle!

Apparently these are the same images shot by Mark Seliger from the October ‘07 issue of Interview Magazine.
